Known for its enchanting lakes, grand palaces, and timeless beauty, Udaipur offers a rich historical and cultural experience. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559, this city was once the capital of the Mewar Kingdom and has a fascinating blend of Rajput history and architectural splendor. With scenic lakes like Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar, palatial structures, and vibrant markets, Udaipur offers a mix of tranquility and cultural richness that makes it a memorable destination. Here are things to do in udaipur, India based on our experience.
Udaipur Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Udaipur
Morning: Arrive at Udaipur Airport. Check into your lakeside hotel by Lake Pichola. There are good options such as Hotel Lake Pichola, Jaiwana Haveli, Hotel Jagat Niwas palace. In case you want luxurious stay you can opt for resorts like Taj Lake Palace or Leela Palace Udaipur.
Afternoon: After some rest, start with a boat ride on Lake Pichola, getting your first glimpse of the City Palace and Jag Mandir Island Palace from the water.
Evening: Head to Ambrai Ghat for a picturesque view of the City Palace and Jag Mandir, reflecting on the water as the sun sets. Enjoy a traditional Rajasthani dinner at Ambrai Restaurant (known for its lakeside dining experience and views).

Day 2: Udaipur City Sightseeing
Morning: After breakfast, visit City Palace, one of the largest royal complexes in Rajasthan. Explore its museums, courtyards, and royal chambers.
Afternoon: Visit Jagdish Temple, a grand Indo-Aryan temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Afterward, stroll through the Saheliyon Ki Bari, a lush garden with fountains and marble pavilions.
Evening: Drive to Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace to watch the sunset. This hilltop palace offers panoramic views of Udaipur, its lakes, and the Aravalli hills.

Day 3: Lakes and Cultural Immersion
Morning: After breakfast, visit Fateh Sagar Lake. Enjoy a walk around the lake or try boating at Nehru Park, an island in the lake. Visit the Maharana Pratap Memorial for a tribute to the legendary Rajput king.
Lunch: Stop by Jheel’s Ginger Coffee Bar & Bakery (great for snacks, coffee, and a lakeside ambiance).
Afternoon: Explore Bagore Ki Haveli Museum at Gangaur Ghat to learn about Rajasthani culture and see a stunning collection of folk artifacts, costumes, and more.

Day 4: Day Trip to Chittorgarh or Kumbhalgarh
Option 1: Chittorgarh Fort
Duration: Approximately 2 hours drive each way
Explore the historical Chittorgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its massive architecture, ancient palaces, and temples, such as the Vijay Stambh and Rani Padmini’s Palace. This fort symbolises Rajput bravery and has a fascinating history of battles and resilience. It is advisable to take a proper government guide who will explain you the proper history of this fort
Option 2: Kumbhalgarh Fort
Duration: Approximately 2 hours drive each way
Visit Kumbhalgarh Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its extensive walls (second longest in the world), this fort offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into the history of Mewar. In case you are keen to stay at Kumbalgarh, there are stay options available too.
Day 5: Relaxation and Culinary Indulgence
Usually, we don't recommend staying in a luxury hotels however for udaipur we would definitely recommend you to stay at least 2 nights in some luxurious hotel. Udaipur luxury hotels have a great feel and structure. You can relax, enjoy and spend your day relaxing at the hotel you opt during your visit.

Day 6: Departure
Morning: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, take in your final views of the lakes, and explore any last-minute shopping at Hathi Pol Bazaar for handicrafts or traditional Rajasthani attire.
Afternoon: Transfer to Udaipur Airport for your flight back to Mumbai.
